“The accusation that PT TMI received commissions from aircraft procurement is a lie,” said Hotman.
In the same press conference, Spokesperson for the Minister of Defense Dahnil Ahzar Simanjuntak straightened out the slanted news regarding PT TMI. “PT TMI has never had a contract or made a contract with the Ministry of Defense. So, there is no contract let alone a transaction and has never been involved in buying and selling or anything else with the Ministry of Defense,” added Dahnil.
In the last few days, it has been rumored that the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto were involved in bribery for the purchase of used Mirage 2000-5 fighter aircraft from Qatar.
Defense Minister Prabowo is also said to have colluded with Greek politician and member of the European Parliament Eva Kaili.
Eva is currently still facing a corruption scandal involving several officials from Qatar. The case became known as “Qatargate”.
At the press conference, Dahnil also emphasized that Defense Minister Prabowo, the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian government did not know Eva, let alone communicate with her.
“I don’t know who she is,” said Dahnil when asked whether there had been any communication with Eva during the purchase of defense equipment. (team)
