Regarding the MiLGEM Project aka Ada class, this warship is an expensive corvette. The price per unit is more than IDR 4.02 trillion. Ukraine is currently ordering two MiLGEM Project units.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has purchased four MiLGEM Project units. Uniquely, Indonesia was once offered the MiLGEM Project corvette, but rejected it.
Even though it has ambitions to bring in a MilGEM Corvette type warship, Malaysia cannot necessarily afford such an expensive ship.
“Currently the Ministry of Defense through TLDM is in the detailed negotiation stage regarding the specifications offered and will then carry out price negotiations before this procurement is finalized,” explained a letter from the Malaysian Ministry of Defense regarding this purchase.
Not to underestimate, but it is believed that the procurement of the Malaysian MiLGEM Project corvette will not be as smooth as the purchase of the Indonesian Paolo Thaon Di Revel class. (Source Air Times)
